This antique Indian iron bound chest dates to the 19th century. This style of Indian chest is from Gujarat in Northern India and would have been used for storing valuables such as textiles, jewelry & cash. It is bound with iron with brass pin detailing & constructed from solid teak wood.

Chests and boxes from India are found in an extraordinary variety of styles reflecting the many cultures that influenced India. This chest has been reduced in height to create a chest the perfect size for a coffee table with a sturdy chain that prevents the lid from falling open and straining the hinges.
