Necklaces & Amulets

Filter

Our Necklaces & Amulets collection explores the deep heritage of Rajasthani tribal silver jewellery—objects of adornment, protection, and devotion. Each pendant or chain carries a story, from village silversmiths’ benches in the Thar Desert to the temples and nomadic routes that inspired their form.

Many of these pieces were created not simply as ornaments but as sacred talismans. The Ganesh and Parvati amulets symbolise harmony and good fortune, while the fierce Kali pendants invoke protection and strength. Others, like the Bhumiyaji Raj or Saptamatrika amulets, reflect ancient regional deities and folk traditions that have endured through centuries of ritual use.

    The Art of Rajasthani Silver

Hand-forged from high-grade silver, each amulet bears the distinctive character of its maker. Rajasthani silversmiths—often from hereditary craft communities—worked with simple tools to emboss, cast, and chase intricate designs. The weight, texture, and slight asymmetry are marks of authenticity, reminding us these were objects made to be worn and carried close to the heart.

    Symbolism & Meaning

These pieces once served both decorative and spiritual roles—believed to ward off illness, bring fertility, or protect travellers. The snake necklaces reference Naga iconography, symbolising rebirth and renewal, while amber bead necklaces from the north connect to trade routes stretching from the Himalayas to Central Asia. Each reflects a lived tradition where art, faith, and daily life intertwine.

The Heritage of Rajasthani Tribal Silver

For centuries, Rajasthan’s tribal silversmiths have created jewellery that bridges ornament, identity, and devotion. Working in small village ateliers, artisans from hereditary castes such as the Sunar and Kharadi used hand tools and locally refined silver to forge pieces of both beauty and spiritual power. Silver, believed to carry protective and purifying properties, was worn close to the skin to absorb misfortune and channel good energy. Many amulets feature Hindu deities—Ganesh, Parvati, Hanuman, and the fierce goddess Kali—while others depict fertility symbols, snakes, or geometric mandalas drawn from folk cosmology. Each piece served as both a marker of status and a talisman of faith, preserving stories that echo through Rajasthan’s living traditions of craft and ritual adornment.
