This fine small Anglo-Indian military chest dates to the 19th century and is a beautifully compact example of colonial campaign furniture. Made from solid teak, it retains its original brass banding, corner mounts and side carrying handles, all designed for strength and durability during travel. The surface has developed a warm patina from years of use, highlighting the quality of the timber and craftsmanship.

The interior is simple and practical, featuring a single spacious compartment. These small chests were often used by officers in the British Indian Army to store personal belongings, correspondence, or valuables while on campaign. Despite its modest size, this piece captures the enduring character and rugged elegance of Anglo-Indian military furniture.
