Glazed Teak Indian Book Cabinet - 19th Century

This elegant 19th century glazed book cabinet dates from the British Raj period and was likely crafted in Gujarat, northern India. Constructed from richly figured teak, it embodies the restrained practicality and enduring quality associated with colonial administrative furniture. Cabinets of this type were commonly found in government offices, libraries, and civil service buildings, where they were used to store books, ledgers, and important documents behind protective glazed doors.

The cabinet features a warm, beautifully aged teak exterior complemented by an attractive soft green-painted interior, creating a striking contrast that highlights displayed books, ceramics, and decorative objects.
