This two-door Indian cabinet is made from reclaimed teak salvaged from old buildings in Rajasthan and Gujarat. It is not an antique, but the use of old timber gives the cabinet the texture and ware associated with antique Indian furniture.
The exterior has a wonderfully distressed green painted finish, with layers of colour and exposed timber creating a naturally aged appearance. The two panelled doors retain traditional-style metal fittings and open to reveal a generous interior fitted with two shelves, providing three useful storage spaces.
Reclaimed teak is particularly strong and durable, making this a practical piece for everyday use. Reusing timber salvaged from old Indian buildings also makes the cabinet an environmentally friendly alternative to furniture made from newly harvested wood.
Its relatively compact proportions make it suitable for use as a linen cupboard, drinks cabinet, kitchen storage cupboard or general storage cabinet, while the strong green finish adds plenty of character to an interior.
