This antique limber chest would have been used by the British army in India in the late 19th century.These chests were extremely sturdy and made of hardy teak wood bound with iron. The average limber chest was designed to be able to carry over three times its weight in ammunition.

Still a very functional piece, and now a truly unique decorative antique it is the perfect size for storage or use as a side table. The patinated teak and iron would fit into a range of interior styles.

The teak wood and ironwork has developed a wonderful rich patina with age and the carry handles have been smoothed with years of constant use. Old numerical inscriptions point towards a very functional past.
