This impressive 19th-century teak takhat from Gujarat showcases the fine craftsmanship of India's wealthy merchant class. Originally used as a daybed, the takhat symbolised status and refinement, built with durability and elegant carved detailing. Its dark, timeworn teak surface and bold proportions make it as practical as it is decorative.

Supported by traditional turned lacquered legs - a hallmark feature of Gujarati takhats - the piece carries a distinctive character and presence. With its deep patina and historical authenticity, this takhat now makes a striking and versatile coffee table, ideal for a living room, conservatory, or summer house.
