This unusual Indian chest really is one of a kind. Likely made for a wealthy merchant or soldier A practical and charming antique Indian military box dating to the 19th century. It is made from painted teak wood in the Anglo-Indian style and likely would have belonged to a merchant or East Indiaman.
The original brass bindings are typical of the campaign style introduced by the British East India Company.

Unusually, this chest opens from the front and has a hidden compartment in the interior.
