This finely carved sandstone jali panel originates from Jaisalmer in Rajasthan, a city celebrated for its golden-yellow stone architecture. Dating to the 19th century, the panel features intricate geometric and floral latticework framed by a cusped arch design. Such jalis were traditionally inset into the walls of havelis and temples to allow light and air to filter through, while maintaining privacy and creating beautiful patterns of shade within interiors.
The craftsmanship showcases the exceptional skill of Rajasthani stonemasons, whose work remains emblematic of Mughal and Rajput architectural fusion. Mounted on a custom iron stand, this piece now serves as a striking sculptural object for display in any setting.
