This finely carved stone panel originates from Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, and dates to the early 19th century. It is made from the region’s characteristic golden limestone, renowned for its warm tone and durability — the same stone used in Jaisalmer’s magnificent havelis.

The surface is intricately carved with Mughal-inspired motifs, featuring a pair of peacocks flanking a trishul (the trident carried by Lord Shiva) over a central stylised lotus blossom. The lotus, a symbol of purity and spiritual awakening, and the peacock, representing grace and beauty, are recurring themes in Indian decorative arts. Mounted on a custom iron stand, this piece exemplifies the exceptional craftsmanship of Jaisalmer’s artisans and makes a beautiful sculptural display for interior or garden settings.
