This Buddha is depicted seated in dhyana mudra which is the mudra of meditation and concentration. He is sat upon a coiled Naga which is often a multi headed snake or dragon. The Naga represents our connection to nature and dwells in an underworld called 'Naga-loka' according to mythology.
