This rustic Indian chest is covered with a light blue paint finish. It dates to the end of the 19th century, circa 1900, and has a shabby chic look perfect to use as a coffee table. Constructed from teak wood.

Chests like this were €œcustom made€� by the head of the family, who commissioned a carpenter to make one to store valuables such as textiles, jewelry, dowry and cash. They were locked with strong padlocks for maximum security.
