This antique Indian bajot low table is a lovely little example of the style dating to the 19th century. It is from Shekhawati in Rajasthan and would have been multifunctional, used for day to day dining and also for displaying leisure paraphernalia such as opium or writing equipment. It is made from roheda wood.

Shekhawati bajots like this one commonly have lacquered beading which makes them more attractive than many. There is also delicate carving on the sides. The turned legs are also lacquered. Bajots are found in many styles around India.

The lifestyle photographs were taken in the Patwaon-Ki-Haveli in Jaisalmer and show how the different tables were used.
