Rich with symbolism and exquisite craftsmanship, this 19th-century carved teak lintel panel hails from Gujarat, India. Originally salvaged from a building fallen into disrepair, it would once have adorned the top of a doorway€”welcoming guests with its joyful parade of elephants and intricate floral motifs. The central pūrṇa kalaśa (full water vessel) inviting prosperity, purity, and divine presence into the home.
Finely hand-carved and painted in faded yet vibrant tones, the panel captures the regional aesthetic traditions of Gujarat, where architectural woodwork was often both devotional and decorative.
Its elongated form and layered visual narrative make it a striking piece for wall display or above a mantel. The carving reveals a deep patina and traces of original polychrome, adding to its rich character and authenticity. Supplied with sturdy hangers.
