This fabulous coffee table is an antique Indian daybed known as a takhat. Takhats were originally used as daybeds by the wealthy merchant classes in Rajasthan, particularly in the Shekhawati area. This takhat is from Shekhawati and dates to the 19^th century and is constructed from teak wood.

It's turned and lacquered legs support a beautifully patinaed table top
and would make an impressive rustic centerpiece for a living room, conservatory, or summer house.
