This wonderfully decorative Indian tiger panel is painted on an older wooden door originating from one of the tribal regions of Madhya Pradesh. Bold, expressive, and full of character, the tiger is shown stretched across the panel in a lively, almost playful pose, its striped body rendered in warm yellows and ochres against a dark, heavily weathered ground.

Tiger imagery holds deep symbolic meaning in central India, often associated with strength, protection, and guardianship. Panels such as this would have originally formed part of a domestic or architectural setting, where the image served both a decorative and talismanic role. The aged surface shows layers of wear, flaking paint, and patina that speak to its earlier life and add greatly to its authenticity and appeal.

Designed to be hung horizontally, the panel also offers the option of portrait display if desired. It makes a striking statement piece for a hallway, stairwell, or living space and is supplied ready to hang with wall fixings.
