Japanese Stone Snow Lantern - Short Ishi Doro

Tthis Japanese-style ishi-doro snow lantern is a smaller stone lantern for gardens, courtyards and interiors. Hand carved from solid stone, the pierced central chamber can also be illuminated to create a traditional garden feature after dark.

Traditional Japanese lanterns are known as tōrō, with those carved from stone called ishi-dōrō, meaning stone lantern. This example is hand carved by artisans in northern China and is frost hardy to at least -20°C.

A central interior shaft allows for wiring a light fitting. The lantern is supplied in five separate sections for straightforward transport and assembly. The pieces can sit freely under their own weight, although we recommend using a small amount of grey waterproof tile cement in busier areas.
