This majestic Indo-Dutch cabinet harks back to the colonial days and the spice wars. Originally from colonial Ceylon (modern-day Sri-Lanka), it dates from the 19th century. It is beautifully constructed from jackfruit wood with ebony trim and beading. The double doors are constructed from fielded panels with ebony pilasters. It is an exceptional example of Indo-Dutch furniture. Easy to pack down and reconstruct, it likely would have been owned by a wealthy trader traveling between Sri-Lanka, South India and Europe.
Perfect for storing bedding with three external drawers in the stand, making it practical as well as visually beautiful. An impressive centerpiece for any room.
