This beautifully naively carved Indian lintel panel with horses comes from an old building in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh which has fallen into disrepair. The lintel sits above a doorway and was commonly carved in India. Deodar cedar grows in the higher altitude areas of India and is rarely found outside the Himalayan mountain range.

This particular style of carving is unusual and provincial. The disproportionate sizing of horses and figures is almost comedic. Two figures wearing crowns and necklaces can be seen holding horses in mirror image.

Comes mounted on a black iron stand but can be supplied with fittings to be hung on a wall (on request).
