This beautifully limed teak window shutter from Hyderabad dates to the 19th century and showcases the refined craftsmanship for which the Deccan region is renowned. The pierced panel is framed by an elegant Mughal-inspired arch, a design feature that reflects the strong architectural influence of the Mughal courts across southern India. Its layered contours and graceful curves soften the geometric latticework, giving the piece both delicacy and presence.

Originally part of a traditional townhouse façade, this shutter would have allowed light and air to pass through while still offering privacy. Today, it makes a striking decorative panel for an interior wall and comes fitted with strong metal hangers on the back for easy display. The soft limed finish highlights the natural grain of the teak and brings a warm, understated character to any room.
