This excellent example of a Qing dynasty Chinese sideboard has its original black lacquer and painting dating from the 18th century. This design was classic of the Ming & Qing dynasties and the doors show scenes of everyday life. Excellent quality painting like this one is incredibly rare to find now.
These cabinets were used as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship in Shanxi province.
Much of the painting is still visible and is of exceptional quality. This Chinese sideboard also has its original brass hardware. Much antique brass and iron hardware from furniture was robbed and melted down during Chairman Mao's cultural revolution.
