This sideboard from Qinghai province in North-Western China on the border with Mongolia & has original painting. The painting on this is incredibly detailed.
This has a clear influence of Mongolia, however the painting is more indicative of the Chinese style. Mongolian & Qinghai sideboards were usually made from locally sourced wood, normally elm, poplar or pine.
These cabinets were used by nomadic people for storage of clothes and bedding or grain. Also used as altar cabinets for family ancestor worship.
