This 19th-century kitchen cabinet from Hebei region, is a superb example of northern Chinese domestic design. Its distinctive latticework doors were designed to promote air circulation, making it ideal for drying noodles and storing foodstuffs in warm, humid climates. The sun bleached finish reveals a mellow grain and rich, timeworn patina, bringing out the natural warmth of the elm and poplar woods used in its construction.

Divided into two main sections, the cabinet offers generous storage. The upper compartment features a deep open shelving area and four lattice-panelled doors, while the lower section includes a pair of central cupboards with and internal shelf, flanked by additional cupboards and two drawers.

  • Origin: Hebei Province, Northern China

  • Features: Ventilated lattice doors (known as 'noodle cabinet' style), open display shelf, two drawers
  • Condition: Excellent antique condition with aged patina and a softly bleached finish that enhances the timber's natural grain
