This beautifully characterful painted sideboard originates from Mongolia and dates to the 19th century. Compact in scale yet rich in surface detail, it combines practical storage with decorative folk painting, making it a highly versatile and visually engaging piece.

The two central cupboard doors are decorated with charming hand-painted floral motifs depicting flowers arranged in vases, a popular and auspicious theme in Mongolian and northern Chinese domestic furniture. The painting sits against a warm red ground and is framed by a softly worn border, with layers of aged pigment and patina revealing the cabinet’s long history of use. Below, three drawers provide additional storage, each retaining its original ring pull handles.

Inside, the cupboard opens to reveal a single shelf, offering practical storage while maintaining the cabinet’s clean and balanced proportions.
