Window Mirror From Shekhawati - 19th Century

This attractive carved mirror has been created from an original 19th-century window frame from Shekhawati in Rajasthan. Made from roheda wood, the frame is finely carved with repeating floral and geometric motifs typical of the region’s decorative woodwork.

Shekhawati is a desert region of Rajasthan renowned for its richly decorated havelis and high-quality traditional carving. The original window frame has been carefully adapted and fitted with modern mirror glass, retaining the character, patina and irregularities of the antique timber.

Reusing an original architectural element also gives the piece a new purpose while making it an environmentally friendly alternative to a newly made frame.
