This Anglo-Indian teak shelving unit dates to the 1930s and is a wonderfully rustic example of late colonial utility furniture. Crafted from solid teak, it retains traces of its original blue painted finish, now deeply weathered and beautifully worn. The surface shows layers of fading colour and areas of exposed timber, creating a rich, tactile patina that speaks to decades of honest use.

The open three-tier design features slatted shelves, allowing for airflow while maintaining a light and practical structure. Subtle shaped brackets beneath each shelf soften the otherwise linear frame, while the square posts with gently pointed caps give the piece a balanced and architectural presence. Sturdy and functional, it remains robust despite its age — a testament to the durability of teak and traditional joinery. Its muted, timeworn finish makes it particularly well suited to relaxed country, coastal or industrial-inspired interiors.
