This characterful painted teak shelving unit dates from circa 1940 and originates from India. Handcrafted from solid teak, the open three-tier design is framed by substantial upright posts, with cross-braced sides and simple gallery rails lending the piece an appealing architectural quality.

Layers of timeworn green, blue-grey and pale painted finishes have naturally weathered and worn away to reveal areas of the warm teak beneath. The resulting surface has a richly textured, authentic patina that gives each shelf considerable depth and individuality. Practical as well as decorative, its relatively shallow proportions make it particularly well suited to displaying books, ceramics and collected objects.
