This antique brass food caddy from northern India dates to around the 1920s and would once have been an indispensable household container. Used for storing staples such as rice, flour, or biscuits, it reflects the traditional craftsmanship of Indian domestic brassware, combining durability with a simple, timeless form.
Fitted with a hinged clasp fastening and a shaped handle on the lid, the caddy was designed to be both secure and portable. Its warm golden patina, developed over a century of use, tells the story of its everyday role in an Indian kitchen where polished brassware was a source of household pride. Today, it makes a practical storage vessel or an attractive decorative accent when grouped with other brass pieces.
