Vintage Chinese Market Trug - Ca 1920s

Antique Chinese wooden trugs  like this were used by traders for taking their goods to the market to sell, and for measuring rice. They would also be used by farmers for moving goods around on the farm.  It has been very skillfully constructed, note the detailed work of the corners. Hand made from poplar wood.

This trug is at least 100 years old and has seen a lot of practical use in its time. It has tons of character and is still very much usable today which is a testament to its design and craftsmanship.
