This striking reproduction bronze pagoda is inspired by architectural forms associated with Han Dynasty China (202 BC–220 AD). Rising through five tiers of sweeping roofs to a tall finial, the structure is richly detailed with pierced balustrades, tiled roof decoration and a stepped entrance leading to the lower chamber.
Relief figures decorate the central tower, while the intricate openwork and strongly upturned eaves give the piece an impressive architectural quality. The bronze has been finished with a heavily aged verdigris patina, creating the appearance of an excavated ancient bronze.
A substantial decorative sculpture, its tall proportions and intricate detail make it an unusual statement piece for an interior.
