Tibetan Yak Leather Trunk from Tibet - 19thC

This Tibetan chest is a classic Tibetan style of chest with pine construction clad in yak leather and brass corners. Originally the central panels on the front, top and sides would have been snow leopard skin used in the original construction of this chest 200 years ago. This is still visible on one of the side panels, however the majority has worn away with constant use. Whilst the brass bindings and lock are original, the hinge is a mid 20th century replacement.

As the condition of this piece is not to our high standards, we are offering a heavily discounted price.
