This stunning necklace has been made from antique Tibetan coral beads & gold lacquer beads in India. The incredibly vibrant reds and salmon tones of Tibetan coral makes it highly valued both in The West and Tibet. Tibetan coral is considered by Tibetans to be more precious than gold. Used in Tibetan medicine and also in jewellery and religious artefacts, coral was believed to enhance the power of the spirit during prayer. As such, it is found in high quality Buddhist malas (prayer beads), Tibetan crowns and prayer wheels. Today, coral is protected and so it's become challenging to find genuine beans. Many marketplaces offer fake corals, however there's no substitute for an original piece.
