Historically the most important piece of equipment for each household throughout Asia and many other countries are the family€™s water pots. In India, they are known as, €œmatka€.
They have been used for many generations to collect water from the rivers or village wells
These pots are most iconically known for being balanced very elegantly on the heads of mostly women, or sometimes children. It€™s one of their daily chores, collecting the water and chattering along the way with friends and neighbors.
Made from riveted iron from Punjab, our beautiful painted pots have been upcycled and decorated in traditional Rajasthani designs.
It€™s classical form makes this a piece of art, but also works as a dramatic vase for a dried flower arrangement.
Planted up it can be used outside in a garden, but will lose its paint eventually.
