This piece would have been used to store herbs and other items used as medicinal remedies. Also known as Apothecary cabinets they come with many small individual compartments. This one has a larger area at the top ideal for displaying ornaments and trinkets.

This particular cabinet comes with 44 drawers and would originally have been painted. Traces of the original paintwork still survives and it has a sturdy back previously repaired with a metal patch. These elements combine to give the cabinet a real sense or age and constant practical use.
