This colonial Indian book cabinet dates to the 19th century, the time of the British Raj. It likely is from Gujarat in North India and is constructed from teak wood.

This is a fine example of the style with a glass fronting and carved frieze. Clear Western influences can be found, especially on the architrave. The cabinet has double doors opening to reveal five teak wood shelves. It has been sympathetically restored in our workshops and has retained its original brass hardware.
