Carved Parrot Teak Dog Gate From Gujarat - 19th Century

Originally used in front of the main entrance doors of traditional Gujarati havelis, these decorative dog gates served a practical purpose by preventing animals from entering the home while still allowing ventilation and visibility. Today they are highly sought after as architectural decorative pieces, equally suited as garden gates, wall-mounted artwork, or distinctive interior features.

This beautifully carved example is crafted from solid wood and retains a wonderfully weathered turquoise-painted finish that highlights the depth of the carving.
