Like many things in India, these seals were made for a practical purpose. Beautifully carved from stone in the early 20th century they were called patalo and used as tepoys for standing things on. They were usually used in Rajasthan & Gujarat. Some say these were also used as seals were used in the old days during festival times. Now seldom used in Indian kitchens in these times of modern materials.
A perfect gift for a collector of village art, each one is unique. They look wonderful displayed in a group on a wall or table. They also make great unusual coasters for placing your mugs, and protecting your coffee table in style.
Each is sold separately with small variations. Please contact us should you wish to choose a specific item.
