This antique brass food caddy originates from India and dates to around 1920. Traditionally used for storing dry goods such as rice, flour, or biscuits, they would have once been a familiar sight in a household kitchen. Each caddy is made from solid brass with a hinged lid and clasp fastening, ensuring durability while showcasing fine traditional craftsmanship. Over time, they have developed a warm golden patina that enhances their character.
The caddy is simple yet elegant in design, featuring plain bodies with incised lines and bold loop handles on the lids. Their uniformity makes them particularly attractive when grouped together, either as decorative kitchen pieces or as functional storage vessels. Like all our vintage Indian brasswares, they bear the authentic marks and small dents of long use, adding charm and individuality to each example. Each sold separately.
