This old Japanese woodblock triptych is by Meiji era woodblock print artist Yōshū (Hashimoto) Chikanobu (1838 - 1912). This woodblock is entitled "Rice Cake Parade" and is from the series "The Inner Palace of Chiyoda" and the 'Album of Women'.

This series by Chikanobu focused on the beauty of women and their clothes. Here, the women are partaking in a festival called mochitsuki where rice cakes (kagami mochi) are pounded. Their kimonos are decorated with the karazuri embossing technique on the collar.

The triptych was originally published by Fukuda Hatsujiro in 1895 and signed Yoshu Chikanobu. The full triptych can be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art - Accession Number: JP3524.
