This elegant antique red and black lacquered Chinese 'square cornered cabinet' is colloquially known as book cabinet. This style of cabinet would have been used by scholars for storing clothes and objects used in the pursuit of wisdom. Originally have had gilt painting on the doors. Remnants of the painting are visible; a vase and flowers - scholarly designs to inspire wisdom.

Two doors open outwards to reveal a large interior space separated by a single shelf.
