Chinese Kneehole Desk From Shanghai - 19th Century

This small and practical Chinese desk table would work brilliantly in a home office, hallway or small room. A beautiful patina has developed across the desk from continual use. The table is constructed from northern Chinese red elm wood (jumu 榉木).

This style of kneehole desk may well have been influenced by Western traders. It has three drawers making it more functional than much traditional Chinese antique furniture. The brass is original and has beautifully detailed double gourd shaped key covers.
