This elegant blue and white temple jar is hand-crafted and hand-painted in Jingdezhen, China's world-famous porcelain capital, where the finest porcelain has been produced for over a thousand years. Decorated with two dragons soaring amongst stylised clouds above crashing waves, the design is inspired by the celebrated blue and white porcelains of the Ming dynasty.
The dragon is one of the most enduring symbols in Chinese culture, representing strength, wisdom, authority, and good fortune. Closely associated with the Emperor, dragons were believed to command the waters, bringing rain for successful harvests while protecting against floods and storms. The dragons on this jar pursue the sacred flaming pearl, a traditional symbol of wisdom, prosperity, and spiritual power.
Each jar is individually hand-painted by skilled artisans using traditional cobalt blue underglaze techniques that have been passed down through generations of Jingdezhen potters. After painting, the porcelain is coated with a clear glaze and fired at high temperatures, producing the brilliant white body and rich blue decoration for which Jingdezhen porcelain is renowned.
Beautiful as a statement piece or displayed as part of a collection, this temple jar celebrates centuries of Chinese ceramic artistry while complementing both traditional and contemporary interiors.
