This magnificent antique Indian door originates from the village of Kheba in Gujarat and stands as a testament to the enduring artistry of traditional Indian woodcraft. Carved from robust teak wood and dating to the 18th century, this striking architectural element features deeply recessed panels painted in layers of red and green, softened by age and patina. The door is crowned with an elaborately carved floral frieze, framed by substantial corbels, each detail showcasing the masterful craftsmanship of its time.
Originally designed for a traditional pin-and-post system, the door has been sensitively adapted to accommodate modern hinges for ease of installation. The original padlocking chain remains in place, offering a rare glimpse into historical domestic life in rural Gujarat. Although heavy our trained team can consult with your builders to suggest the most suitable hinges prior to delivery.
