This striking carved teak Nandi bull from Rajasthan dates to the early 20th century, circa 1940. Depicting Nandi, the sacred bull and devoted companion of Lord Shiva, such figures hold deep spiritual meaning within Hindu culture, symbolising strength, loyalty, and divine guardianship.

Hand-carved from solid teak, this piece stands firmly on its original base, giving it a sculptural, almost architectural presence. The surface retains a beautifully aged painted finish, dominated by rich blue tones with subtle traces of green and underlying pigments. Years of handling and exposure have created a wonderfully textured patina, enhancing the expressive, almost abstract quality of the carving.
