This beautifully painted simple red mirror is made from an old 19th century teak window shutter from the small town of Bikaner in Rajasthan, India.
Bikaner is famous for its fine painting of both buildings and boxes. They paint in vibrant red & green tones using vermillion.
Architecture from India are found in an extraordinary variety of styles reflecting the many cultures that influenced India. We most commonly purchase old doors, window shutters and architectural salvage.
Most Indian architectural salvage was made from Teak, rosewood or jackfruit wood.
