These impressive 19th-century haveli doors originate from the Rann of Kutch region in Gujarat, India, an area renowned for its distinctive architectural traditions and masterful wood craftsmanship. Constructed from solid teak, the doors feature a striking grid of hand-carved square panels, each centred with a prominent raised boss, creating a bold geometric design that would have made a powerful statement at the entrance of a traditional home.
Layers of beautifully weathered original paint have mellowed over time, revealing a rich tapestry of faded whites, earthy browns, and subtle traces of earlier colours beneath. This naturally aged surface, combined with the deep relief carving and centuries of wear, gives the doors remarkable texture and character. Original iron ring handles, a substantial iron locking mechanism, and hand-forged hardware further enhance their authenticity and visual appeal.
Whether installed as functional doors, adapted as garden gates, or displayed as large-scale wall art, these antique architectural pieces bring history, craftsmanship, and sculptural presence to both traditional and contemporary interiors.
