This finely carved 19th-century three-way stone lamp niche from Jaisalmer showcases the elegant architectural detailing associated with the historic havelis and temples of Rajasthan. Hand carved from warm golden sandstone, the piece features three delicate arched openings framed by slender columns, floral motifs and a beautifully shaped domed crest inspired by Indo-Islamic architecture.
Traditionally used beside entrances or within interior alcoves to hold small oil lamps or candles, niches such as these brought both illumination and ornament to domestic spaces throughout the Thar Desert region. The intricate carving and softly weathered surface give the panel remarkable depth and character, making it equally striking as a sculptural wall piece in contemporary or traditional interiors. Supplied with strong wall hangers, the niche is ready for display.
