This antique milk pot originates from the Kullu Valley in Himachal Pradesh, Northern India. Expertly turned by hand from a single piece of wood, it features the distinctive horizontal grooves characteristic of the region’s traditional craftsmanship. Dating to around 100 years old, it bears the marks of time and use, with a beautiful natural patina and subtle variations in tone and texture.
Originally used for storing milk in Himalayan homes, this vessel combines simplicity of form with exceptional tactile quality. Today, it would make a striking decorative pot for dried flowers, umbrella stand or stand beautifully on its own as a sculptural object, showcasing the quiet refinement of Indian rural design.
