An incredibly good example of a pegam prayer table from Tibet with original painting, dating from the 18th century. Pegams were used by monks for reading manuscripts and they are rare to find today. Painted in the traditional way with stone and real gold paints.

This table has a floral design and has two symbols that are recurring motifs in Tibetan culture.

The Endless Knot:
With no beginning and no end, the endless knot symbolizes the infinite wisdom of the Buddha. It also indicates that all things and actions are linked by cause and effect.

The Wheel Of Dharma :
In three parts, the wheel exists as a hub, the centre of the world. The 8 spokes, denote the 8 paths to enlightenment. This wheel also contains the Yin-Yang symbol which is the source of creative energy in Tibetan culture. This particular wheel is painted using real gold paint.
