Old Tibetan Folding Choksar With Later Painting

This Tibetan folding choksar dates to the 19^th century and has been repainted in the 20th century as is often common practice in Tibet.

The main feature is a single dragon clasping the cintamani, wish granting jewels in its claws. On the front two facing snow lions can be seen either side of a ceremonial urn decorated with ribbons. The quality of painting is superior to the painting of Tibetan furniture in the late 20^th century and 21^st century. 

Choksars were used as prayer tables by monks for reading scrolls and books. As a folding prayer table, this would have been used by a traveling monk going from village to village. Tibetan furniture is becoming increasingly rare.
